These Distinctive Brews Turned A Tiny
Into A Craft Beer Powerhouse
After starting in the back of a German restaurant in 2006, Ninkasi has evolved to become an icon in the Oregon craft beer scene. And their growth shows no sign of stopping.
Why you should try their beer:
They're getting bigger and better all the time
Ninkasi launched with a single brew: Total Domination IPA. But with the addition of its 'Flagship Series' of acclaimed classic beers, such as Believer Double Red and Oatis Oatmeal Stout, this brewery has grown to become the third-largest producer of craft beer in Oregon. It has now tapped into bars and beer stores in Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Montana and San Francisco.
Recent gold-medal win proof of quality
Ninkasi's Bohemian Pilsner captured a coveted gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in October of 2013, taking the top spot in the super-competitive Bohemian-Style Pilsner category. The win illustrates how this regional brewer's expertise extends far beyond its hoppy roots.
They believe beer is key for community
Named after the ancient Sumerian Goddess of fermentation, Ninkasi believes that a brewery should be a social hub for the community. So they embrace the do-gooder role, supporting sporting events, local bands, theatre and festivals in the community.
