Blue Dot from Hair of the Dog Brewing

Blue Dot

By: Hair of the Dog Brewing

Product Description: A brilliant, yet often overlooked, imperial IPA from the old-world-style beer masters at Hair of the Dog. Blue Dot proves that Double IPAs don't have to be super-high in alcohol content to be enjoyable. Honestly, it's nice to see Hair of the Dog surprise us with a lower alcohol DIPA, considering their usual affinity for the high ABV stuff.

Rated a nearly perfect 99 on Rate beer, and given an "outstanding" 90-91 rating on Beer Advocate.

Definitely should be mentioned right along side the elite Double IPAs of the world. And rest assured, if you're buying Blue Dot from Bring on the Beer, it will always be as fresh as possible. We won't ship or sell expired IPAs...especially not the classic ones like Blue Dot.

What's on the bottle...

MALTY - HOPPY - TASTY - GOOD: Blue Dot is named after our planet: we are only a pale blue dot in this universe. Made with Organic Pilsner malt, Rye malt and a combination of intense hop varieties. Pour slowly to allow the sediment to remain in the bottle. Make every day Earth Day. Do something nice for your mother.

HOTD brewing company is dedicated to proving the beer lover with new and unusual beer styles.

More from the brewer

7% ABV Double IPA. Full of hop flavor without being overly bitter.

Blue Dot Double India Pale Ale pours a cloudy (unfiltered) golden, orangey, straw color, topped with a thin creamy white lace with minimal stick. Somewhat pungent in the nose with tons of herbal, floral, citrus grapefruit, raw honey and fresh mint. Fairly full-bodied, thick-ish, smooth, even and creamy. Then the hops come to play with a raw leafy coarseness and big smack of grapefruit, ripe pineapple, salt, rinds, hint of soapiness (not a bad thing), and some sticky resins on the palate. This is all backed by a malt sweetness, touch of honey, and a spicy character unique to the addition of rye. There's some spice and warmth from the alcohol too. Dry and biscuity toward the finish. Tropical fruit esters on the breath.

Warning: Beer of the month clubs and mass producers promise "craft" beer…deliver less-than-stellar drinking experience.

Sadly, it's true…
98% of breweries in America are now labeled as "craft beer" producers, a term that's quickly losing its meaning. But most are still hiding dull, lifeless beer behind clever names and fancy labels.

If you're tired of it, as I am, simply enter your email address in the form above and begin discovering the best tasting beers in the world. Beers you won't find in your supermarket or liquor store. I'll show you why…and how to reserve your own private supply.
